CONFERENCE WEEK - 13-17 March

Student Action for Refugees is pleased to announce a conference week! Join us Monday, 13 March - Friday, 17 March for a week of public talks on refugee & asylum issues with speakers from the London Detainee Support Group, Refugee Council, UNHCR and LSE's own Dr Beyani.

Monday 13 March
>London Detainee Support Group - 'Detention Centres & Asylum-Seekers in UK: Key issues and life stories'
SPEAKER: Aoife O'Higgins is a representative of the London Detainee Support Group. She will speak alongside three former detainees who will share their experiences of detention

Tuesday 14 March
>Refugee Council - 'Child Refugees: Unaccompanied minors'
SPEAKER: Mehari Ogba Michael is working in the child refugee section for the Refugee Council

Thursday 16 March
>UNHCR - 'The Challenges of Refugee Protection in the UK and Europe'
SPEAKERS: Mrs Muggeridge and Mr Lim are working in the legal protection team of the UNHCR office in London

Friday 17 March
>Dr Beyani - 'The Impact of Counter-Terrorism on Asylum Policy'
SPEAKER: Dr Chaloka Beyani is a Senior Lecturer in Law with the LSE Department of Law. His specific areas of interest are human rights, refugees and armed conflicts

We've learned a great deal about asylum-seekers and refugees this past week -- we hope you did too!
